The
Clear, crisp and deep bass tones – by Ann Wilson
If you love listening to music keep reading. I’ve had
one of my most satisfying listening experiences in thirty odd years this week trying
out an “HB2”. The speakers are small and
attractive with a leather finish (if you like that kind of thing, and I do). More
importantly they have a clear and crisp sound. They come in black, red, coffee
or white. The other attractive bonus is the price at a very affordable £90 from
the very friendly and helpful Adrian at “Optiport Audio”,
Kendal.
I’ve always thought buying audio equipment is one of
those things where you need to take an expert to help, like buying a new guitar
or car. However you don’t need an expert to shop with Optiport Audio because a
friendly professional is there. The buying experience is very relaxing as Adrian
is keen to ensure you find the right audio equipment to meet your needs.
I wanted a system for relaxing to music at home with a
great quality sound. I have a varied taste in music from soothing acoustic
singer songwriters through to dance tracks, reggae, rock and metal. I like a
clear sound and I love to pump up the bass.
This HB2 system has a bass reflex tunnel design which means it
automatically has deeper bass effects. I
noticed I could hear individual instruments on tracks more clearly, I could
hear the violins and double bass better than usual and on favourite hip hop
tracks the rappers sounded better with the deeper bass tones.
It was incredibly easy to connect the HB2 system to my
i-phone with the Bluetooth function. On
the top of the left speaker I switched the “source” button to Bluetooth. In the
settings menu of my phone I clicked on “Yuppies by Microlab”. I was listening
to my favourite playlist within a few seconds.
My music has never sounded so good.
The amp is built into the speakers so this system looks
neat. Using Bluetooth means there’s no trailing wires. For the best sound with Bluetooth I kept the
sound on my device at half volume and turned the volume up on the speaker. There’s a better sound if you hardwire the
device but it’s clear and crisp on Bluetooth anyway.
I might hardwire a device if I was using it for a gig.
The system would more portable if it came with a carry case or with handles on
the speakers. However if you are looking for a small, neat system with a great
quality sound for your home, office or studio I highly recommend the “HB2” and
buy it locally and with great service from the fabulous Adrian at Optiport
